Fright Night (2011)

Would I Buy This? Highly doubtful.

Ill come clean: I've never seen the original. I know, I know. I should. But if it makes you feel any better, this wasnt that great. It was entertaining; I watched the whole thing. But it wasnt very scary. Part of the reason? Colin Farrell.

I'm not saying that Colin Farrell isn't a good actor (my opinion is irrelevant) and it's not to say that he can't be a believable vampire (he was, in this case). But it's Colin Farrell. Its like casting Tom Cruise: you get to a point where it's nota-vampire-who-is-Colin-Farrell butColin-Farrell-as-a-vampire. The real-life persona that we know and see all the time outweighs the character, so my first thought waswow, he really does a decent American dialect.

The rest of the cast is great, and like I said, it's entertaining. Theres some very funny parts to this, and it took me a minute to realize that the Vegas entertainer Peter Vincent was played by one of the many Doctors, David Tennant. Theres definitely some redeemable work going on here.

All the same, it didn't do much to scare me. Catch it on cable, enjoy it with some friends, but don't invest in this one.

Need to give appropriate credit for this article partly to I actually had the idea from I little piece I read on their site.
